Vintage Thingies Thursday - Time Rolls On

It's time for the Tour de France and time for some more vintage crocheted postholders. So this week I have an old postcard of a bicycle with clocks for wheels and potholders in the shape of clocks.

I have a potholder pattern book that has a crochet clock pattern that is similar to my clock potholders. This book is No. 243 ©1948, The Spool Cotton company.

I am including a copy of the instructions from this book. This potholder pattern would probably be easier than most crochet patterns because the clock potholder is basically a circle with embroidered numerals and hands.

  1. I like your time post! I've never seen a pattern book for making potholders, but if I had, I surely would have grabbed it, because I love those old potholders!

  6. I love your potholders! I just purchased recently some vintage potholder books. I have not had the time to try and figure out how to make any of them, but I do want to learn.

Great post, so much fun!! I am glad you posted the pattern.

Have a great VTT and a wonderful weekend.

  7. How funny! In my previous post yesterday I showed my newest potholder, and it is your pattern without the clock embroidery. We follow the Tour de France every day at least a little.

  8. Those are so cute. I hear that my hubby's grandfather collected postcards and they are in our attic. So far all I've found is a box full of the same postcard ~ maybe thrown out from a printer? I'm still looking though.
