This postcard advertising back to school fashions was actually sent to me back when I was in high school. I was "personally" invited to "preview the season's most exciting sweaters, companion skirts and all the best co-ordinated sportswear."
Plaid is again--or maybe still--popular for fall. Try googling "plaid for fall" and you will get a lot of hits. Vintage and retro fashions are popular too. I kind of like those brown saddle shoes, but I can't see myself wearing that kind of clothes now. Do you think you could wear things like this without feeling ridiculous?

If the plaid were on a smaller scale - and I were a number of dress sizes smaller - maybe.
ReplyDeleteFashion trends come back again here in Thailand. I see lot of teenager here wear something similar this now.
ReplyDeleteI love the shoes! I could wear those. Fun card! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteActually this could also be campus fashions for the '50's. Brings back memories.
ReplyDeleteWhether I'd feel comfortable depends upon the occasion...perhaps a costume party??
Us dudes wore plaid back then too, you know! My mother would never let me wear plaid shirts with plaid pants. One or the other. I figured if I was wearing two different plaids to school, I would look busy. ;)
ReplyDeleteI had an outfit almost exactly like the one on the right(shoes too) in 1961-62' and I thought I was just gourgeous. I still love the look.
ReplyDeleteBack when I was much (much!) thinner, I had plaid slacks verrry similar to those in the photo. Loved 'em. If I wore plaid slacks today, even if the plaid were a smaller scale, I'd look like a piece of furniture begging for a couple of throw pillows. ;D
ReplyDeleteI had several "stylish" plaid outfits back in the 60's, but it wasn't until madras hit the stores that plaid became more stylish than...well... plaid.
ReplyDeleteWell I must have worn something similar at one time, but I don't see myself in them now, no matter how much the fashion is for retro styles. I think when they rejuvenate old styles, they change them in a way that makes them subtly different.
ReplyDeleteI'd almost where the pants one, if I weighed what I did in HS. II think brown worn in such proportions is one of those trends that is either completely in, or - not so much. (my daughters are currently in to robbing me of any remnants of my 80s wear)
ReplyDeleteWith today's teenagers everything has to be "cool". I wonder if those fashions were cool back then?
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's the stuff my Mom must have been wearing. She had me when she was 19 years old. I was two in 1960. (grin) How fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat back to school card! I still see the school kids wearing plaid!
ReplyDeleteHowdy
ReplyDeleteHappy PFF to you .
I love plaid !
What a fabulous post.
Thank you so very much for sharing.
Have a fabulous weekend.
Happy Trails
Plaid never when out of fashion in Alaska, especially wool plaid shirts. I would feel left out in the cold if I didn't wear them.
ReplyDeleteI'm mad about plaid! I moved to Germany! I live in a small town called Partenheim now:) I went to the University of Mannheim so the transition has been easy peasy... well except for the fact that I was so sick that I was in the hospital for two weeks! It's so nice to be back Lynn!
ReplyDeleteLove those pants!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by last week. Sorry i am just getting around to visiting.
Blessings on your week.
