PFF - Honoring & Respecting the Earth

© 1986 by Penny Jackim, Ahimsa Graphics

April 22, 2010 is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. Earth Day was founded April 22, 1970 in the United States. Earth Day began as an environmental protest because environmental problems were not being addressed.

This postcard has a quote from the "Menton Statement," a message that was composed in May, 1970 by scientists meeting in Menton, France. The scientists identified global problems threatening human survival and urged international efforts to find solutions to the problems of pollution, hunger, overpopulation, and war.

A perfect card for Earth Day. Which should be EVERY day. The Menton Statement is definitely as true now as it was in 1970.

Happy PFF!

Hi

Thank you for sharing this wonderful earth-day post card now 30 years old, but the dream is yet to come true.

However, we cannot give up the struggle now, for future generations are depending on the now generation to do the right thing.

The question that keeps on playing in my head is this. Why are there so many intelligent people of influential worth around the globe are not able to solve this pressing problem of an abused earth? Surely the tools are there to fix the problems but day after day and year after year these tools remain under lock and key. I try not to belief this statement made, "humans will always destroy the hands that make and feed the bread of life".

Cheers
