Postcard Friendship Friday - Ste. Marie Mailbox

This is for Marie at cpaphil. I haven't figured out where or what Ste. Marie is. This is one of a small group I once bought of French postcards showing girls and mailboxes. Most of the others seem to be New Year's postcards (I don't know French).

Want to participate in Postcard Friendship Friday? Welcome!! Go read this on Marie's cpaphilblog.com to learn how to get started:)

  1. This is absolutely breathtaking! Thank you, thank you for the wonderful smiles this morning! Ste Marie is a Catholic holiday which is celebrated on Jan. Ist. Each Saint has their own holiday here. The days are very recognized here even by the non religious!

  3. It's a beautiful card! I imagine it's one to commemorate a saint's day. In the past French people used to be named for saints, some still are of course, but the saint's day was often celebrated as much as if not more than the birthday. Every day on a French calendar has an associated saint, sometimes several. Once upon a time, these were the only acceptable names.

  7. I love this card!
I am amazed at how the French and Filipinos are very similar in terms of naming children after saints and that every saint has their own holiday for celebration. I think it's the Spanish influence in the Philippines :)
    Have a great weekend!
