Although this postcard is the WWI era, the caption seems to sum up the British feelings about the London Olympics:
To make dear old England happy and great,
The glad day of victory we hopefully wait.

  1. I have some postcards much like this that my grandmother's English cousins sent to her. Very beautiful and sentimental. (kathy at abbieandeveline.com)

  4. Getting England mixed up with Great Britain (as the card seems to do) wouldn't go down too well these days.Great card though.

  5. I've enjoyed the Olympics and will be sorry to see them end. England can certainly be proud, just as the card says.

  6. Great Britain didn't have to wait long for victory - 28 golds so far.
