A commemorative stamp honoring Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892-1950), a famous American poet, was issued July 10, 1981.
This oversize (5" X 7") postcard was issued by USPS © 2000. I think it is part of a set of Great American Writers postcards, but this is the only card like this that I have.
Very nice card and great to have the bio along side the stamp.
ReplyDeleteI have also received this stamp and published it today. But I like to read so many information about it, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBy the way... I don't know why I didn't follow your blog so far! :D
That's a beautiful postcard and stamp, and I agree, great that also more information is provided!
ReplyDeleteAnother poet for me to look up. Beautiful stamp and card. You seem to find some good ones all the time.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm not fond of the name 'Edna', I've always though her full name had the most poetic sound to it!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right, Edna St. Vincent Millay works out to be a beautiful name.
DeleteThat looks a interesting series of postcards for a bibliophile to collect.
ReplyDeleteA very attractive card and stamp. So often the stamps are issued with little or no information.
ReplyDeleteShe was a wonderful poet! I was wondering if this was your stamp you said you had.
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating.
This is beautiful card.I wonder if they still do this.
