Greetings for National Postcard Week -- May 3–9, 2015

This week is National Postcard Week. Although I am not making and mailing actual NPCW postcards, I thought it would be fun to modify the greetings on an old French New Year postcard that shows a female mail carrier delivering postcards.

    1. Is that the one at the airport? That was a great idea. I can send you one of the cards I made to use for Postcrossing if you give me your address. I made real NPCW week postcards for about the first 10 years--the last one was about 20 years ago!

    1. Postcardy - If you'd like to email me your address, I'll send you a retro postcard from this neck of the woods that I guarantee you won't have in your collection. gluepot@gmail.com

    2. I don't know whether this postcard is part of a series, but I saw two in the box that have the same model and box.

If you give me your address too, I'll send you a "retro" postcard that I designed and actually had printed.

  5. Oh, this is great! I have several people I've been meaning to write, what better to do than send them postcards this week?

  6. How ironic. I usually design and send out postcards to family & friends for special days like Valentines Day & Mother's and Father's Day, etc. I kind of got behind the 8-ball this year, however, & with a couple of exceptions for folks who don't have computers, I'll be emailing Mother's Day postcards this year. But I'll remember Nat'l Postcard Week & get a good head start on it next year.

  7. Oh she’s lovely isn’t she? Postcards in postcards on a postcard! You’ve done a great job of changing the greeting too - just like Alan and I do for Sepia Saturday!

  8. |National Postcard Week - I don't know that it's recognised here in Aus, but then, I'm not up on all postcard matters like you are. Very clever choice and re-design!

  9. Love the coloring in the original AND in the ones in the box! Hand colored?

    1. It may be hand colored. When I look at it at an angle and with a magnifying glass, I can see edges on the bright pink colors.

  10. At first I thought it was the National Postcard Week of France!
Did the French postal service ever have such pretty letter carriers?

  11. The only postcards we have seen recently have been propaganda for the Election - no pretty postcard lady on those.

  13. I have another commemoration to add to my calendar: National Postcard Week. The female mail carrier card is a great selection.

  14. Delightful. My daughter loves to send postcards, and has been doing so since she went off to camp for the first time -- that was many years ago. I have often thought she might like to read and see posts of collectors such as you. i mention it to her every once in a while.
