Snow Banks on Continental Divide

Altitude 11,600 Feet
Denver & Salt Lake Railroad, Colorado

SNOW CUTS
This wonderful scene is a remarkable photograph taken June 15th on the Moffat Road above the line of perpetual snow. The road is built over the crest of the Great Divide, just west of Denver, and tourists go eagerly to the top of the range to see the wonderful climatic paradise of snow in the summer.

  1. Riding through something like that must have been kind of terrifying. Could you imagine looking out your traincar window and just seeing a wall of snow?
