Hedgehogs are spiny mammals that are found in Europe and other parts of the world, but not in North America. Mecki is a hedgehog character that is very popular in Germany. His wife is Micki. Mecki has appeared on many postcards.
There is a large gallery of Mecki postcards on the Hedgehog Collector website.

I had a Mecki doll (named Porky after a favorite puppet character I watched on a local TV kids' program - they looked exactly alike) when I was a smitch! How lovely to see a dear friend on a lovely Easter postcardy. I didn't know such Mecki cards existed.Hmm...? Do I smell a new something special to collect?! Thank you so much.!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of Mecki before! What a delightful postcard. I love the pussywillows he holds in his arms.
ReplyDeleteThose are coming out all along the river now.
Happy PFF!
How funny! Mecki dolls are new to me.

ReplyDeleteYou don't have hedgehogs?! No Mrs Tiggywinkles? What a terrible shame. At least you have this lovely card as consolation. :)
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of Mecki before today either! I loved the little hedgehog in the new Alice in Wonderland. Cute little card and happy PFF!
ReplyDeleteI think I used to have a little Steiff hedgehog. I love the concept of Mecki and Micki.

ReplyDeleteHappy Easter & Happy PFF!!
X LOLA:)
Hi there! Thank you so much for mentioning that. I took the liberty of putting one of those poems up--and your name, too.
ReplyDeleteTake care! Happy Easter, and Happy PFF!
I'd never hear of Mecki and never thought of hedgehogs and Easter but how appropriate, for they are usually coming out of hibernation, depending on the weather, in March. They are the cutest of animals.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about these two cute characters. The only place I've ever read about hedgehogs is from Beatrice Potter. Happy PFF!
ReplyDeleteAwww! So cute. Happy PFF
ReplyDeleteI love this card! The colors are so bright and call out that spring is here! I have never heard of a Mecki but they look cuddly and adorable and something my kids would love! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! Kymberly
These look like the apes in the first planet of the apes movie. Maybe I'm just not used to them, but they seem a little creepy to me!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of Mecki dolls either. The post card of them is really cute. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by... PFF!
