Vintage Thingies Thursday - Minneapples

"The Minneapple" was a popular nickname for the city of Minneapolis in the 1980s, in contrast to the "The Big Apple" (New York City). This postcard shows a Minneapolitan's distorted view of the world.

This is a display of some of my "minneapples" that I have above my kitchen sink. My favorites are the ones with the faces. My apple collection started with a vintage cookie jar. I realized that I didn't have space for a cookie jar collection, so I started collecting apple salt and pepper shakers and other thingies of a similar size. Most of my apples are kitchen related, but I have other types of apple thingies also.

I love your apples, and my favorites are the ones with the faces too. Those are really cute! I have one apple cookie jar, it is yellow and I think it is a McCoy. Loved looking at your cuties today. Have a great VTT.

Love the Minneapolis take on that classic New Yorker cover! I grew up in New York then went to college in Minneapolis!

I love your collection! I believe the fruit/veggies with faces are called "Anthropomorphic" and are highly collectible! (I think I spelled that right!)

What fun to see this cooky card, since I just had a wonderful visit from a friend who lives in St. Paul and works in Minneapolis. (One of my brothers lives in Duluth, the other in Mankato.....but those cities don't count in the eyes of a Minneapplite?)

Does anyone know where to get a print of that Minneapple poster?
