Above are Guernsey Post Office Stamp-Cards reproducing Guernsey stamps of Charles and Diana. These stamps were issued on July 29, 1981 for the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana that took place on that date. They are part of a set of seven stamps. Today (July 29) is the anniversary of that wedding.
Below is a picture of a mini sheet that included these stamps (source: Stamp Photos).

The Charles and Diana wedding must have been on so many stamps, but it's scary how fast the time flies!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that Guernsey issued PHQ cards too. I think these pictures are rather nicer than the UK ones.
ReplyDeleteI completely forgot this was the anniversary. I have been saving up a couple of written PHQ cards. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
Princess' Diana's smile is so contagious, just by looking at her made me smile too. :)

Is there a connection with the balcony group and the wedding? If there is I can't remember it. It doesn't seem to fit to me.
ReplyDeleteStamps that will have only an historical connection soon.
Don't they all look so young!!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful mimi sheet!
ReplyDeleteWow - over 30 years ago. Time does go by quickly. And I do remember getting up early and watching the wedding - as I did the Royal wedding last year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating.
Oh, I love these! I love Charlie and Di (I think I can refer to them that way because I am just a wild colonial)... Anyhow, I have blogged about a couple of other stamp issues featuring them here: http://iheartpost.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/royal-kitsch.html

Great choice of stamps to share! :)
They have used some nice photographs, especially the Diana one. I'm reeling to realise it was as long as 30 years ago.
