The postcard with the Girl Scout laws is something I bought for my postcard collection. The other things are from my Girl Scout years.
First is my Girl Scout handbook (1955 edition) with an official Girl Scout plastic bookcover. My pins and 100th Anniversary patch (1860-1960) are on top of the book.

Last is my badge sash. The badges continue on the other side. The last 10 badges are just pinned on. They have been that way for fifty years! I never got around to sewing them on because I no longer needed to wear the sash.

Ah this takes me back. I am a little younger so I didn't have the 100 yera anniversary badge. But boy that manual sure looks familiar! had inherited an aunt's copy (she was much younger than my mom). thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI never had the opportunity to be in the girl scouts. I did enjoy your sharing your time with them.
ReplyDeleteI still have my GS sash, too. You were a better scout than I was. I don't have half that many badges.
ReplyDeletewhat memories this evokes. I had my sash and worked hard for those badges. such a great thing.
ReplyDeletewhat an amazing collection!
ReplyDeleteGreat collection! I stil have my pins, but who knows what happened to the badges. LOL
ReplyDeleteFun post! I was a Girl Scout as a girl in Savannah and I remember visiting the Juliette Low ( GS founder) house there with my troop. Unfortunately I don't have any of of my badges or pins anymore...
ReplyDeleteTerrific post! WOW! You were a very good Girl Scout with all those badges!
ReplyDeleteLove this post, so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT,
Sally
OH I should get my sash out too! You got loads of badges!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter was a girl scout, I was in camp fire girls as a kid....great memorabilia here! Have a great VTT!
ReplyDeleteI'd never seen the Juliette Low Centennial Patch or the 5 Points pin before! What is the pin below the Brownie pin? It has a glare in the photo, so I couldn't identify it. I'm a life member of GSUSA and was actively involved for many years. My daughter, now a GS leader, and my 14 yr. old granddaughter carry on the scouting tradition.
ReplyDeleteI love how you find a post card and write a great post adding other things of interest. Thanks for sharing.

I was a girl scout for a couple of years in the 1970s. I bet my old stuff is over at my parents house. Such fun to see these.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about "On the Eve of Being Bored". It's about how you really shouldn't be bored and when you feel that coming on to occupy yourself with imaginings and just have fun.
Thanks for stopping by!
Oh man how I wish I have kept my things. I still have some of my daughters but I was a gs about 60 years ago. Such a wonderful organization. blessings to you

Wow you had a lot of badges. I dropped out after Brownies so no badges for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection. I love the illustrations in that book. I wonder what happened to my sash. If I know my mother, she has it somewhere :) Fun post - brings back so many memories.
ReplyDeleteWow! Does this ever take me back to another time and place.... and you saved it all. Good for you. I think I have a couple of pins in my jewelry box but that's about it.
ReplyDeleteI remember every item and how it felt to wear the outfit, the hat, the banner and go to the meetings. My mother was a den leader.
Thanks for bringing back some good memories...
Oh wow, does this bring back memories. I too still have some of my pins and patches. Sadly, not the badges; they burned in a house fire.
ReplyDeleteYour Girl Scout Collection make me think of my husbands Boy Scout things in our closet. I have often thought of framing them. But, I shall take photos and load them up. He made Eagle Scout!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Springfield and visited my Mom over the 4th of July. The antique shops in town are awesome.
I saw your site on Judy's postcards!
