The Legend of Sleepy Holllow

This is a Colorano Silk Maximum Card with the "Legend of  Sleepy Hollow" stamp that was issued on October 10, 1974. The stamp features a scene from Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" in which the infamous Headless Horseman pursues Ichabod Crane. The story was first published in 1820. Wikipedia has a summary here.

  1. Autumn colours + Halloween... I love your choice!

  2. A suitably spooky stamp, I like the designer's striking and minimal use of colour. I still haven't got over the nightmare of Christopher Walken playing the headless horseman in Tim Burton's film.

  3. I'm not sure that the current tv version of Sleepy Hollow is critically acclaimed, but I rather enjoy watching it.

  6. I'm in the minority, it seems, because I don't know the story. But the stamp is great - very atmospheric.
