PFF - Old View of Minnesota State Fair Grounds

This postcard shows an early twentieth century view of a portion of the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. The Minnesota State Fair is located midway between Minneapolis and St. Paul. It has been held at its present location since 1885. The 2010 dates of the Minnesota State Fair are August 26 to Labor Day.

The building shown in the background is the old Livestock Pavillion that was completed in 1906. This building was replaced by a new Coliseum in 1951.

You can see more of my state fair postcards on the Vintage Postcard Forum here.

What a great collection. I especially like the card of the streetcar terminal. It gives you an idea of how people got there. This card is interesting for its partial coloring. I like it.

Yes, fairs are wonderful. This one was a big fair. In the Netherlands there are no state fairs, and for a long period in the 19th century fairs were even forbidden in Amsterdam. They were deemed as too sinful.

That looks an enormous building for livestock!

Great postcard! I'm so glad that a visit to the fair these days doesn't require dresses, hats and gloves.

The building stands out because it alone has been 'colorized'. Great card!

How interesting to think this building no longer exists...this is a beautiful postcard and I deeply appreciate the history behind it.

What a fabulous postcard!

Makes me wonder if there are any floating around out there focusing on the Oregon State Fair.

In regards to my postcard you has asked me what the specific challenge had been...It was 'Once Upon a Time', the book page is from the childrens book, The House with a Clock in its Walls by John Bellairs.
